Direct Attached Storage
Direct Attached Storage - DAS in short - products provide all options for rapid storage access. Data can be written or read to file or block levels.
As the name "Direct Attached" already states, these memory systems have storage units that are directly controlled via system bus (SCSI, FC, SAS) in the computer. The interface to the network is managed by the operating system of the server which is connected to the DAS system. Because these data busses only have to bridge very small distances (a few metres), DAS solutions usually stand for very high data transfer rates, but have only a limited local utilization. External DAS data storage with integrated RAID intelligence, however, represents a very cost-efficient possibility to economically extend already existing systems.
