iSCSI Storage
iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) is a standard for storage networks on an IP basis and is used to manage storage space across longer distances.
An important feature is the cost-effective centralisation of storage. Because of the availability of IP networks, the storage can be accessed outside of or independent of location. Moreover, iSCSI is also a suitable solution when requiring the cost-efficient storage of network database systems. iSCSI technology represents a reliable, highly available and above all economic SAN solution for small, medium and large companies. Existing network infrastructures can be used, as new hardware is not required for the node connections. Storage is accessed on the block level. iSCSI technology is especially suitable for network environments where it is necessary to rapidly and efficiently transfer block-based I/O data.
